From time-to-time we take in a rescue Boston Terrier. Harley came to us at close to one year of age with no manners. Her first owner was a caring person, but she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer shortly after she brought Harley home as a little puppy. She is a good person with good intentions, but was so pre-occupied with surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy that she mostly left Harley outside with food and water but little socialization. When we took in Harley at nearly one year she was not potty trained; could not walk on a leash; jumped on furniture, counters and people; and chewed on everything. She is a beautiful dog with a beautiful soul, though. We worked with her for five months to learn doggie manners and etiquette. She now lives with a wonderful family in Thousand Oaks who have another Boston, Gromit. Harley and Gromit have become fast friends.
